The project of general education in Bosnia and Herzegovina (TABLA) started on September 24, 2019 and will last until September 23, 2023. TABLA aims to improve abilities students' critical thinking and improve their academic success in exact sciences.
To prepare students and teachers for the challenges of the 21st century, Save the Children (SC), in partnership with the Education in Action Foundation (FEiA), the Institute of Education of the Republic of Slovenia (ZRSŠ) and the Peacebuilding Network (PnB), will use a comprehensive and innovative approach to improvement learning outcomes in the subjects of exact sciences, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) through building the capacity of teachers, improving standards for initial education and professional training of teachers, improving the learning environment and encouraging reform dialogue and advocacy, in order to increase the efficiency of the education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). During the COVID-19 pandemic, the project supported teachers to use online and combined (combination of online and classroom work) learning and enabled activities aimed at preservation of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). In addition, TABLA will provide that the students and teachers who most need computers, hardware and Internet access have these basic tools for teaching and learning. The activities of the TABLA project will be directed at the state and cantonal authorities ministries of education (MO) and pedagogical institutions in three geographical areas, namely Canton Sarajevo (KS) and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) in the Federation of BiH (FBiH) and the Republic Srpska (RS), and in the context of capacity building and support in the implementation of education reforms. The educational reforms supported by the TABLA project aim to transform initially education and professional development of teachers through the integration of STEAM, PPDM (pedagogical-psychological-didactic-methodical education) and the common core of curricula (ZJNPP) based on learning outcomes. The activities of the TABLA project are dedicated to strengthening the ability of educators to encourage students to 4K (critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration/collaboration) and applying STEAM knowledge and skills to reach their full potential and positively influenced the social and economic development of the country.
