About us

The European Forum for Reconciliation and Cooperation in History and Social Sciences Education (EFREC) is a key project in the international work on textbooks conducted by the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute (GEI). EFREC organises the cooperation and the exchange of ideas and experience between bi- and multilateral initiatives related to the production of curricula and educational media in Europe, with the aim of developing methods, standards and products that promote historical and political education geared towards understanding and cooperation. To help achieve this, EFREC works closely with the bilateral textbook commissions (German-Israeli, German-Polish and German-Czech) coordinated by the GEI.
