The Austrian-Russian Historical Commission has set itself the goal of scientifically reappraising Austrian-Russian and Austrian-Soviet relations in the 20th century in a spirit of openness and objectivity. The work of the commission should contribute to facilitating access to archival materials and library holdings for researchers from the other country. Important historical topics are to be researched jointly by experts from both countries, and the results are to be made available to the public through joint scientific conferences and publications.
In view of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, carried out since February 24, 2022, the joint work of the comission is suspended.
