The German-Ukrainian Historical Commission pursues the goal of deepening the links between German and Ukrainian historical scholarship and mutually promoting the dissemination of knowledge about German and Ukrainian history. One focus of the DUHK's activities is the promotion of young scholars. The DUHK focuses on the following topics of German, Ukrainian and German-Ukrainian history: World War I and II in Germany and Ukraine, German occupation policy and the Holocaust. In addition, the commission also deals with the history of Ukraine under state socialism. In order to achieve the set goals, DUHK develops the following activities: organization of meetings and conferences, publication of research results, promotion of young scientists by awarding research grants and organizing summer academies and workshops for master students and doctoral candidates. DUHK also provides an online portal on German-Ukrainian history.
